If you’re a history buff you might want to catch Brian Crowley’s A Queer History Tour of Kilmainham Gaol, focusing on the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender prisoners.

Sunday, June 23

Sunday has a jam packed lineup. Dr Mary McAuliffe will lead the Dublin Pride Walking Tour, departing from The George at 2pm.

While Cabbage Patch Park on Kevin Street is the place to be for animal lovers for the very first Pride Dog Show. Hang around afterwards for the Family Fun Sports Day.

Bi+ Ireland will hold their Pride meet up in Street 66 from 3pm for folk to chill and chat.

Later, An Evening With David Norris hosted by Changing Attitude Ireland will take place in The Music Room at Christchurch Cathedral at 6.30pm. Senator Norris will speak about his life, work, and being gay in Ireland from the 1960’s to today.

Monday, June 24

A free mental health workshop – Insight Matters For Your Mental Health will be held in 46 Mountjoy Square South from 4pm.

Tuesday, June 25

Dublin Pride Conference is on in the Radisson Blu, Dublin 8. Entry is free and the conference is for people working or volunteering in the LGBT+ sector or people interested in this area. Later, the Outing Festival Geílí – a ceílí with a gay twist – takes places in Panti Bar, entry is free.

Wednesday, June 26

As our friend from the NXF already mentioned – the NXF Dublin Pride Annual Political Debate will take place in the CHQ at 6.30pm, entry is free.

Thursday, June 27

Join Dublin Lesbian Line for a night of activism and empowerment at their event Recognising and Challenging Sexual Harassment of LGBTQIA+ Women* in The Tara Building.

Friday, June 28

It’s clubs galore on the night before the Parade. The Dublin Bear Pride Fur club night will take place in Adelphi, Middle Abbey St from 9 pm.

The Mockie Ah: Dublin Pride Vogue Ball will take over The Workman’s Club with a massive lineup of special guests.

Scene stalwart The George will throw their Glitter Bomb spectacular with none other than Gok Wan in attendance.

Saturday, June 29

It’s the big day! Those looking for a good feed to fuel their marching would do well to pop down to Outhouse for their Pride Breakfast from 10am.

The Dublin Pride March and Parade comes back to the city centre where it belongs. Setting off from the Garden Of Remembrance at 12pm and heading down O’Connell Street, it will finish up at the Pride Village in Merrion Square. The family friendly Village will have speakers and special guests on the main stage and a host of other activities.

Looking to start your party early? The George hosts an all-day Pride party from 12pm, as do the fine folk at Street 66, while the Panti Bar and Penny Lane Street Party will kick off at 2pm.

If you were lucky enough to get your hands on an elusive Mother Block Party ticket, head down to Collins Barracks at 4pm. If not, there are a rainbow of other options to take you into the night.

Victoria And Davina’s Pride Party takes over Vicar Street from 7pm promising an unmissable night, while Furry Glen and Dublin Bears are back in Adelphi at 9pm.

When the clock strikes 10, Bukkake throws a whopper party in Opium Wexford Street while Spinster Pride LADYZ Party takes over Bad Bobs in Temple Bar as Profile hits Tramline on D’Olier Street.

Grace closes the night at 11pm in The Sound House on Eden Quay ready to bring all you revellers into the wee hours.

Saturday, July 6

The weekend after, Trans Pride Dublin will take place. Beginning from 2pm at the Garden Of Remembrance with the theme Break The Binary, the important event invites all trans, non-binary, intersex and cis allies to attend.

Belfast

Belfast is celebrating Pride in style with the dynamic theme Come Out For Change. Pride month will be kicking off up north from Friday July 26 to August 4. Belfast Pride will be celebrating the spirit of activism that paved the way for the biggest Pride Parade yet on Saturday August 3. This year will see a further push for change and inclusivity. Last year, there was a phenomenal 55,000 people who attended Belfast Pride and this year, there is the possibility for even more.

Carlow

It is a historic moment for Carlow as they are set to have their first Pride Parade on July 21, starting from the grounds of St Patrick’s Carlow College. The Parade route is heading towards a Rainbow Family Picnic and a night of dancing in Dicey Reilly’s. John Paul, the event organiser, describes the happening as “a litmus test for what can be achieved and what people want in rural Ireland”.

Castlebar

Mayo Pride will be surging into life with the Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on July 19 at Aras an Chontea, The Mall. It will be a momentous occasion marking the beginning of a weekend celebrating the LGBT+ community in rural Ireland. Mayo Pride month is promoting the idea of strength in community, rolling out #Mayo4Pride and #MayoPride.

On the night of the Flag Raising Ceremony, the winners of the Children’s Art Competition will be announced. The theme this year was Unity In Community.

With the constant support of Outwest Ireland, Mayo Pride will truly be a memorable one this year. The festivities will take place July 21 to July 23, with the Parade on July 22.

Clare

While not quite a Pride festival, happening in the thick of the season is The Outing LGBT+ Music, Art and Matchmaking Festival. Settling into their new home at The Inn, Dromoland Castle Estate, the wooded countryside view will capture the imagination and fancy of any one attending what can only be described as an unforgettable experience.

There is a strong team behind the Festival, such as the Outing Festival director and founder Eddie McGuiness, co-ordinator Frank Cleary, and event co-ordinator Daithi Naughton. The line-up includes the immense talent of Paul Ryder, host of The Ringmasters Drag Race, Eurovision Winner Johnny Logan, the legendary Mr Pussy and so many more.

The Festival is running from September 27 to September 28. So make sure to book those days off because you don’t want to miss this.

Cork

The Cork LGBT+ Pride Festival is back and bigger than ever! The eight day festival takes place from July 27 to August 4 and will host a massive array of fun, social and educational events representing all members of the community.

Cork Pride’s outreach initiative, Pride by the Sea, also returns and will be held simultaneously in East Cork and West Cork, spreading Pride to rural communities with exciting Family Fun Day events in Youghal and Clonakilty. The annual Cork Pride events will include a Family Fun Day, Wellbeing and Rights Evening, Welcome to the Community/Coming Out event, GAZE Film Festival Cinema Night, Community BBQ in Voxpro and Pride Village along with an Interactive LGBT+ Walking Tour taking you through the rich LGBT+ history of the Rebel County.

This year’s line up also includes events that cater specifically to the trans and bi communities and will see Gay Project and LINC hosting a number of events.

The Parade will take place on Sunday August 4. The theme this year is Stonewall: 50 Years Proud, and Cork Pride want to seize the opportunity to highlight the higher level of injustice still faced by our trans brothers and sisters globally. The committee chose the trans community as the first group to share the Grand Marshall title this year in honour of the Queen of Stonewall -Marsha P Johnson.

This year’s parade will feature an original Gilbert Baker Pride flag carried through the streets of Cork. This eight stripe, 30 metre flag is part of a mile long flag created in 1994 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. It was split into several smaller flags afterwards and is being brought to Cork with the kind permission of its custodians - the European Pride Organisers Association, which Cork Pride joined earlier this year.

The Parade will be followed by the annual Pride After Party, hosted by the legendary Paul Ryder with music from Red FM DJs and The Old Moderns, performances by Irelands Got Talent dance group RDC and Chambers’ resident drag queens - Letycha Le’Synn, Mia Gold and this year’s Ringmasters Drag Race winner, Nettles. The after party will also feature Ireland’s youngest drag queen, 14 year-old Cork native, Karma O’Hara.

Derry

The Foyle Pride Festival began as a grassroots movement against the commercial aspect of Pride and has grown into a wondrous means of uniting the Derry community. They will be celebrating in style on August 18 all the way up to August 26 while the Pride Parade will take place on August 25.

It aims to be an empowering day for everyone involved and a great reminder of how far the LGBT+ community have come in recent years.

Drogheda

The oldest town in Ireland is about to get a splash of colour as Drogheda Pride takes to the streets. “It means Drogheda is a very welcoming town, the largest town in Ireland, that we all are part of the community, for example, LGBT+, travellers, Roma and other people from diff erent backgrounds and cultures and beliefs are all celebrated,” said Peter James Nugent, Drogheda LGBT+ Pride Manager.

On July 19, there will be the official opening on Millmount where the Pride flag will be raised high. Revellers can then make their way to Bru Bar for refreshments and a selection of ‘80s and ‘90s music to keep those toes tapping. For 10-18 year-olds there will be an all-day event in the Boomerang Youth Cafe. The fabulous Drag Bingo will take over McHugh’s Venue for an unforgettable night with Sunny D, Dylan Jordan, Pluto the Star, Mink Monroe and Plasma with DJ Crystal Knight.

The Parade will make its way through Laurence Street on July 20, marking four years of coming together and celebrating all things LGBT+ in Drogheda. After the Parade, the fun continues in McHugh’s with Sophia Harte, Aine Becks and DJ Ruth Dignam on hand to provide the fun, with live music from Matthew Nolan ’til late.

“Pride also means that stigma is still out there, but creating awareness and support [means] it will be easier for some people,” continued Peter James Nugent.

Dundalk

Dundalk Pride is going to be a wondrous experience. The Festival will be occurring between July 12 and 13 with the Pride Parade taking place on the second day.

Galway

Over the course of 30 years, Galway Pride has gone from strength to strength. From the 13 to the 19 of August, there will be a wide variety of activities for everyone to get involved in. This year’s Parade will start at Galway City Hall on August 18. There will be an additional start point on Shop Street for those wishing to join at a later stage. Teach Solais will be having a Pride Shop open for the week of Pride, so definitely get down there and show some support.

There will be a Community Pride Art Exhibition open all week across 126 galleries alongside a wide array of events promoting artistic expression, love, parties and an all round good time.

Larne

Pride is being brought to Larne, Co Antrim, for the first time on Saturday August 17 and what a way to kick things off.

“Larne Pride is important to our community to show the support and inclusion we have for everyone regardless of race, religion or sexuality, that our wee town has moved forward,” said the Larne Pride group.

The line-up for the night’s festivities include the amazing Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Danny Beard, the stunning Northern Irish talent Blu Hydrangea and the absolutely hilarious Trudy Scrumptious. That’s only to name a few of the wonderful entertainers going into making Larne’s first Pride a truly spectacular day. “It’s our hope that the day brings happiness to many many people, and helps them see how many actually support them and care for their happiness just as much as anyone else’s,” said the Larne Pride group. Local strongman and LGBT+ ambassador Chris McNaughten is pouring his full support into making this a memorable experience.

Limerick

Limerick is taking the globe by storm with the theme World Pride.

This year Limerick Pride will be commemorating 50 years of Stonewall and half a century of LGBT+ freedom. Moninne Griffith, Executive Director of BelonG To Youth Services, has been announced as this year’s Grand Marshal. She will be bringing her 20 years of advocacy, law, and social justice experience to this momentous role. Pride starts on July 5 and runs to Sunday 14, with the Parade taking place on July 13. After the Parade, the legendary Pridefest party at the Hunt Museum will be getting underway. There is a strong push for education with support groups being held during the week for everyone to get involved in. GOSHH will also be opening their doors for Rapid HIV testing across the week.

Newry

In a huge achievement, Newry has been selected to host the Ireland and UK Pride Festival and Parade. Newry will be welcoming the spirit of Mardi Gras to Ireland as the Sydney Queer Irish Group are expected to be in attendance. Bringing a taste of the down under to Ireland is only one part of what will make Newry Pride on August 31 such a fabulous time. It is the community of Newry coming together to put on an amazing show which completes the picture.

Turles

Thurles is ready for a stunning night of entertainment at Jim Kennedy’s to show their Pride. Ava Hennessy will be on hand to put on an amazing performance and teach the audience some exciting pole dancing moves. You can also expect the sensational talent of Domino. The night will feature a sure-to-be breath-taking Battle Of The Drags, a wild Blind Date session, the crowning of Mr and Mrs Gay Tipperary, and, of course, some great tunes.

As the organisers say, “The support from families and friends has been amazing. So we are looking forward to people coming together in Thurles and celebrating a fabulous occasion.”
