‘Tis The Season

Start your Christmas celebrations on a musical note, as a pair of wonderful choral events prepare to ease you into a joyous festive season.

Up first is the wonderful LGBT Christmas Carol Service, which celebrates its 20th anniversary on December 8. Taking place in the atmospheric surrounds of the Unitarian Church on St Stephen’s Green, lucky listeners will enjoy an evening of readings alongside carols from the Dublin Gay Men’s Chorus. There will also be an address from a celebrated guest speaker, and with past speakers including David Norris, Ailbhe Smyth and Katherine Zappone, this year is bound to be just as invigorating. Mulled wine and mince pies will round off what is bound to be an evening of festive cheer.

Originating from the Reach organisation, the event was created to reach out to LGBT+ people who experience loneliness at Christmas. This beautiful, free to attend, event will spread warmth by welcoming all. For those who have the means to contribute, there will a collection during the ceremony for a worthy charity.

For more information, check the Dublin LGBT Christmas Carol Service Facebook page.

Up next, the awesome Glória, Dublin’s Lesbian And Gay Choir, are readying to wow as usual at their event ‘A Glorious Christmas’. They’ll fill St Patrick’s Cathedral, on Patrick Street, Dublin 8 to the rafters with their wonderful wall of seasonal sound.

A word to the wise - the popular group regularly sell out their events, so advance booking for this higly unmissable event is highly recommended.
