Every year, the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Initiative awards voluntary and community groups across Dublin who work selflessly to improve lives and raise community spirit. The award is given to help develop new projects, improving the locality and the lives of the people within it.

This year, one of the 65 worthy recipients were our friends at TENI (Transgender Equality Network Ireland). The €1,000 euro award will help towards the organising of their upcoming Transfusion music festival.

On hand to announce the winners was sailor Annalise Murphy. The Olympic medalwinner said: “Voluntary and community groups create so much positive change in their local communities. It is truly inspiring and empowering to see these local heroes creating real change and improving people’s lives across Dublin. I’m in awe of those people behind these groups who dedicate so much of their time to making other people’s lives and their communities better. They are the foundations which hold our city together.”

Ray Coyne of Dublin Bus added, “It is fantastic to be able to honour the heroes of these groups, those people who work tirelessly and in doing so, selflessly improve the lives of those around them.”
