Stray Cat Strut

The Kilkenny Cat Laughs comedy festival is rearing its funny, furry head again this month. There’s a host of hilarious homegrown acts, including Blindboy of the Rubberbandits, Aisling Bea and Maeve Higgins, as well as a new strand in the programme – Stray.

Describing itself as a mix of weird performance art, podcasts and secret latenight craic, Stray seems intriguingly boundary pushing.

There’s quite a bit to appeal to fans of queer comedy, with legendary performer Jonny Woo (pictured) performing as part of the Soho Theatre set, and comedians Zoe Lyons and Gearóid Farrelly ready to get your ribs tickled.

Nicole Silverberg and Rachel Wenitsky, the ladies from the awesome Reductress website and Mouth Time podcast are hosting a female-led stand up set, which also promises to be a must-see.

Not for the Wednesday Addams’s amongst us, comedy fans are sure to get their feline fill.

The festival runs from May 31 to June 4 in Kilkenny, thecatlaughs.com for more
