AWARD RECIPIENT
LINC Q-Con
Q-Con, Cork’s sexual health and wellbeing conference for queer women, was recognised for its important discussions around desire, sex, understanding trauma and more. Organised by the incredible team at LINC, it was an inclusive space where people could meet, learn and feel a sense of belonging.
Accepting the award at the 2024 GALAS, LINC CEO Kate Moynihan said: “I’m absolutely amazed and thrilled and delighted with this award. We want to say thank you to everybody, thank you to NXF, GCN and I really want to thank Ciara [Mulcahy Linehan], who was a key organiser of this conference and without her it wouldn’t have been the conference it is, or was, or will be again!”
NOMINEES
Bród Na Gaeltachta
As the first-ever Pride to take place in an Irish Gaeltacht, Bród Na Gaeltachta has offered Gaelgeoirí from all over the country a space to congregate since 2022. With a mix of education, entertainment and community spirit, the Donegal-based festival this year offered a full weekend of events to encourage queer solidarity and a culture of inclusivity in rural areas, as well as a unique opportunity for people to be able to express themselves through Ireland’s native language.
Dublin Pride Run
This year’s Dublin Pride Run was the largest LGBTQ+ sporting event in the country with 1,330 participants completing the 5km race. It raised over €75,000 for the charities ShoutOut, LGBT Ireland and Sanctuary Runners. Moreover, the event offered an amazing opportunity to bring LGBTQ+ people and allies together and raise awareness around wellness and mental health in a novel way.
Trans & Intersex Pride Dublin
As a grassroots march that has become one of the most important events in the Irish queer calendar, Trans & Intersex Pride Dublin is about radical liberation for all marginalised groups in society. In the face of increasing hostility against trans people, the event draws bigger crowds each year, with thousands of people taking part in 2024.
