MEET THE TEAM
Stefano Pappalardo (He/Him)
Manager
Stefano is responsible for leading the GCN team and for the performance and day-to-day management of the organisation.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I would go back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I’ve always been fascinated by the subject (nerd alert) and would love to see what some of them actually looked like. Granted I’d only pick that period if I could use one of those Jurassic World sphere pods, otherwise I’d probably only last a couple of seconds.
Alice Linehan (She/Her)
Editor
Alice is responsible for the production of the print edition of GCN magazine, as well as contributing to the content on gcn.ie.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I would go back to (very specifically) June 26, 1998, and take part in the 2nd International Dyke March in Dublin. I’d be enchanted to be among the “huge, handsome crowd of loud, louche, laughing lesbians,” that were in attendance.
Beatrice Fanucci (She/Her)
Lead Multimedia Journalist
Beatrice is responsible for curating and planning high-quality web content, and writing daily and long-from articles for gcn.ie.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I’d probably go back to the Regency Era to have a heart-to-heart with Jane Austen to ask her all about her writing and how sick she is of men.
Aarya Bhutani (She/Her)
Commercial and Fundraising Executive
Aarya is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients and looking after the revenue streams of GCN through fundraising initiatives.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I would like to go back to when India was on the cusp of gaining independence. I’ve read so much about it, have heard stories from my grandparents of what a time it was and I would have loved to be able to experience it myself.
Conor O’Doherty (He/Him)
Digital Marketer
Conor is responsible for developing, reviewing, updating and implementing GCN’s ongoing marketing strategy and workflows for all digital platforms.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I’d like to go back to when most of Ireland was a temperate rainforest, or to see the Great Irish Elk roaming about. I’d die within minutes, but they’d be interesting minutes.
Sarah Creighton Keogh (She/Her)
Online Content Creator
Sarah is responsible for creating daily and longform content for the website and print magazine, as well as video and multimedia content.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I would go to 1960s/‘70s San Francisco where poets like Pat Parker and Judy Grahn were creating a new language around gender and sexuality whilst shutting down taboos. The city was also home to the Daughters of Bilitis, one of the first lesbian civil rights organisations.
Ríon Duffy Murphy (He/They)
Administrative Assistant
Ríon is responsible for overseeing the distribution of GCN magazine and managing subscriptions, as well as GCN’s merchandise and online store. If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why? I would travel back to the medieval period, as I’m fascinated by how weird and morbid they were, and I’ve always had a soft spot for Joan of Arc (groundbreaking for a transmasc, naturally).
Dave Darcy (He/Him)
Creative Director
Dave has been the creative director of GCN for over seven years, and is responsible for all visual communications and branding.
If you could time travel to any moment or period in history, what would it be and why?
I’d travel to New York in 1964 so I could see Dylan and The Velvet Underground on the same weekend. Plus, it’d be fun to witness the birth of counterculture before it became just regular culture.
