HIV Ireland

Adam Shanley has joined HIV Ireland in the newly created MSM Programme Manager position. He will continue to manage KnowNow, the rapid HIV testing programme and will also manage the peer-led sexual health and wellbeing outreach programme linked to GMHS. Adam will develop new initiatives that respond to the sexual health of MSM and act as HIV Ireland’s spokesperson on topics relating to the gay community.

Adam said “I’ve worked in the HIV and sexual health sector for the last four years. In that time I’ve had the opportunity to work with thousands of guys who’ve experienced fun, pleasurable and liberated encounters and also worked with guys who are navigating challenging, harmful and upsetting times too. It’s a privilege to support my community in that way. “HIV and STI diagnoses are at record levels in Ireland, a disproportionate number of which are among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men. We urgently need to generate innovative, community-led interventions that respond to our sexual health and wellbeing needs. In this new position with HIV Ireland, am really looking forward to making more of that happen.”
