In our last issue (352, April 2019) in a piece by Adam Long about 40 Years Of The National LGBT Federation (pg 6/7), Adam stated that the NGF organised the protest march in the wake of the Declan Flynn murder. This is incorrect. The march was actually organised by the Dublin Lesbian and Gay men’s collectives. This was a mixed group of socialist lesbians and gay men who aimed to achieve LGBT equality by social reform activism within the broad left movements. The group was founded in 1981 and operated for six years. It made links with the civil rights, trade union movement and the feminist movement, among others at the time. It was the forging of these relationships that garnered widespread support for the march. We are happy to correct the record and are sorry for this error.
