OUTSTANDING COMPANY
AWARD RECIPIENT
SSE Airtricity
The Outstanding Company Award recipients, SSE Airtricity, have demonstrated leadership and service on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community.
This year, ahead of Pride Month, the organisation dedicated its sponsorship branding to LGBT Ireland and promoted the service’s national helpline. The move was supported by Shamrock Rovers’ footballer, Roberto (Pico) Lopes and Shelbourne’s player, Keeva Keenan. The company also showed their commitment to this leadership by instilling strong LGBTQ+ inclusion policies and practices within its operations.
NOMINEES
Aviva
Aviva went beyond expectations and work responsibilities through their Pride Socks and Allyship Alley initiatives for Pride Month this year. For the month of June, they donated €10 to Belong To for every sale of a pair, and also placed a Pride flag decal at the corner tunnel of the Aviva Stadium. They also encouraged their customers to throw their own Pride parties across Ireland, including a Pride Watch List, sharing recipes and decoration ideas.
Bank of Ireland
Bank of Ireland showed their commitment to the Irish queer community through their sponsorship of the Emerald Warriors rugby club. Their With Pride LGBT+ Network continues to drive representation and inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally communities, building empowerment, a sense of belonging, and connections between communities. In February, the production of the LGBTQ+ resource Queer Voices by ShoutOut was supported through the Bank of Ireland Begin Together Fund.
Google
Google Ireland is paving the way for LGBTQ+ equality in the tech sector through their unwavering support for, and awareness of, queer issues. The company HQ in the US hit their target of diversifying its leadership three years ahead of schedule, inspiring all of its worldwide branches to do the same. In previous years, the tech giant pledged funding to Belong To, supporting vital LGBTQ+ resources for the community.
