What’s the Tee?

Created in response to homophobia on the terraces, artist Brian Teeling’s stunning t’s are both a celebration and recognition of queer fans of the beautiful game.

Sports grounds can be an unwelcoming place for LGBT+ fans, with homophobic chants a regular enough occurrence. Teeling is tackling the issue by creating clothing that doubles as proud fan wear for the team you follow and the team you play for.

Inspired by the Gay Bohs – the gay fans of the Bohemian Football Club, the shirts partner the classic pink triangle symbol with the logo from the 1993 Bohemian FC home jersey - the year of decriminalization.

As Teeling explains, “Football leaves little or no room for narratives outside of the accepted ‘norm’. These t-shirts provide a challenge, forcing it to accept that not only are members of the LGBT+ community here, but we have always been here”.

All profits from the sales will go towards BeLonG To and The Bohemian Foundation, while Teeling hopes this will be just the first of many queer fan wear designs.
