For all you bookworms out there, the Cork World Book Fest celebrates its 14th edition this year. A celebration of the written word, the city will host readings and workshops as well as events for teenagers and children over the six days of the festival.

We have a vested interest in proceedings as our very own editor, Brian Finnegan, will escape from GCN Towers for the opening night celebrations, before coming straight back home.

Rainbow Writing, a celebration of LGBT+ writers and literature, will take place in the City Library on Tuesday, April 24. As well as our Brian, (who wrote the novels The Forced Redundancy Film Club and Knowing Me, Knowing You, don’t you know?), short story writer Jamie O’Connell, poet Sarah Clancy and author and archivist, Orla Egan will take part in an evening of lively discussions and readings. Put a bookmark in your diary for that one.

The festival runs from Monday April 23 to Saturday 28. For more information visit corkworldbookfest.com
