Farewell Orphan Black

The sci-fi drama came to a climatic end this month, and with it we say farewell to one of the strongest representations of an LGBT relationship on TV. Cosima and Delphine (Cophine) were a couple that weren’t given the usual lesbian treatment on screen. Their relationship had its ups and downs, but as actress Évelyne Brochu said: “I think it’s pretty cool that the main romantic focus is that it’s two girls in love with each other and that their main problem is not that they’re two girls”.

The show’s creators and leading ladies Tatiana Maslany (who plays over 12 clones) are huge LGBT allies and have encouraged Clone Club, their largely queer fandom, to embrace their identities in light of the show and all its crazy science. Farewell Orphan Black, you’ll be missed.
